在汉语中，我们既可以用“人”来描述生物学和考古学中的“人类”，也能用它来泛指“带有社会属性的人”。在英语(精品课)中，这些概念分别有其对应的说法。学习五个用来表示“人”的英语表达。

1. The human race或 humankind 人类（总称）

这两个说法均为“人类”这一群体的统称。

例句：

How long will the human race last on this planet?

人类在地球上还能生存多久？

2. Humans 或 human beings人

指“humankind 人类”这一族群中的个体。

例句：

Unlike other animals, humans are able to make and use tools.

和其它动物不同的是，人类会制作并使用工具。

3. Homo sapiens人类

又称“智人”，这个说法来自拉丁文，指“现代人类”，Homo sapiens 要比 humankind 这一概念更广泛。

例句：

The fossil offers significant insights into the study of Homo sapiens.

这块化石为科学家们研究智人提供了重要的思路和视角。

4. People人们，人民

名词 people 通常用来指“带有社会属性的人们”，是集体名词。它的单数形式是 person。

例句：

I don’t care what people say about me.

我不在乎人们对我的评价。

5. Soul一种人，某种人

该名词用来强调具有某种特质的人。

例句：

Can you imagine all the responsibilities he has? Poor soul.
